Gustav Siegel (1880 - 1970)
Austrian interior and furniture designer. He studied at the School of Applied Arts in Vienna and was a pupil of the architect Josef Hoffmann. He then worked for Jacob & Josef Kohn as chief designer. Gustav Siegel became famous for his low-backed armchair from the late 18th century, which became a real icon in the design of bentwood furniture. In 1901, Jacob & Josef Kohn presented furnishing the entire house with bentwood furniture with a square cross-section of bars. In addition to Kohn Siegel, he also influenced Thonet's designs.
