Armchair Fn 24 (S 411) (#449)
Willem Hendrik Gispen (1890 - 1981)
professionally restored original, new filling including genuine leather cover with contrasting trimming, wood cleaned and varnished to a high gloss according to the original appearance, original chrome tubular construction polished
Originally the manufacturer Mucke-Melder as type Fn 24 (licensed by Thonet according to type S 411), after 1948 taken over for production by the national company Kovona
The upholstery with upholstery is based on the original design of the so-called spring chair Marcel Breuer, for which WH Gispen designed the upholstery of the seat and backrest. After 1933, when the development of tubular furniture began to adapt to the requirements of customers who had already requested upholstered furniture, this type of armchair became a model for many manufacturers, both abroad and especially for Czechoslovak manufacturers. It was produced by all domestic companies (Slezák, Gottwald, Mücke-Melder, Thonet, SAB). In its slightly modified form, it remained the longest-produced model in the production of the national company Kovona, which still produced it in the 1950s.
