Armchair Fn 24 (S 411) (#151)

Willem Hendrik Gispen (1890 - 1981)

professionally restored original, new upholstery, construction newly chromed, armrests painted with polyurethane to a high gloss

Originally the manufacturer Mucke-Melder as catalog type Fn 24 (under license Thonet according to catalog type S 411), later Kovona np

The upholstered armchair is based on the original design of the so-called spring chair Marcel Breuer, for which WH Grispen designed the upholstery of the seat and backrest. After 1933, when the development of tubular furniture began to adapt to the requirements of customers who had already requested upholstered furniture, this type of armchair became a model for many manufacturers, both abroad and especially for Czechoslovak manufacturers. It was produced by almost all well-known domestic companies at the time (Slezák, Gottwald, Mücke-Melder, Thonet, SAB). In its slightly modified form, it remained the longest-produced model in the post-war production of Kovona np

The original design was created for Thonet-Mundus, the same type was taken over by the Czech metal furniture manufacturers Mucke-Melder, Slezák and Gottwald.
