Thonet-Mundus

Thonet-Mundus was founded in 1926 and continued the original Thonet company, a factory for bentwood furniture. The original factory in Bystřice pod Hostýnem (founded by Michael Thonet in 1861) became the development center of the entire Gebrüder Thonet company and exported its products to the whole world was at the time the largest of its kind. In 1946, the National Enterprise Thonet was established by nationalizing and merging a number of furniture factories in Czechoslovakia, which was renamed TON (Bent Furniture Factory) in 1953.
